Biography

Mr. Janek Grochowicz is a Co-Founder and serves as Managing Partner at Freya Capital. He served as Of Counsel at Squire Patton Boggs. His main area of practice is Polish corporate law, particularly in M&A and capital markets transactions. He joins the firm from the Warsaw office of Norton Rose Fulbright. An accomplished corporate lawyer, he has 10 years of experience advising regional and international clients on the full range of legal issues connected with M&A and private equity transactions. He has worked closely with private equity firms in Poland and across Central and Eastern Europe on numerous investments. He has acted for corporate clients in sectors such as insurance, energy, construction, and manufacturing, as well as fintech and financial services in general, where he also has in-house experience through a secondment at a major European bank. Among his work highlights are advising a state-owned bank on the sale of an investment fund management company and investment fund; advising a private equity fund on the acquisition of an electronic payments business in Poland; acting for a leading global insurance group on the cross-border mergers of subsidiary companies in Poland, Germany, and the UK; and representing a major oil and gas exploration group on a cross-border merger with its Dutch subsidiary.
