Biography

Mr. John Zimmerman serves as President at Ascent Private Capital Management. He was the Co-Founder and served as Chief Executive Officer at Echelon Capital Group. He also served as the Managing Director at Northern Lights Capital Group. Mr. Zimmerman's responsibilities include the oversight and vision of the firm, in addition to the management of the investment function. Before founding Echelon Capital Group, Mr. Zimmerman was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Janus Capital Group. In this role, he grew the institutional business of the firm from $20 billion in assets and 17 employees in 2004 to $54 billion in assets and 65 employees by the end of 2006. Before Janus, Mr. Zimmerman served in various investment roles for Banc of America Capital Management, including equity analyst, director of research, strategist, portfolio manager, director of growth strategies, and head of institutional client service. In 1994, he was selected as "Best of the Buyside" by Institutional Investor magazine. Mr. Zimmerman served as the president of the St. Louis Society of Financial Analysts and currently serves on the University of Missouri Finance Advisory Board and various charitable boards. Mr. Zimmerman received a BS from the University of Missouri and an MBA from St. Louis University. He has more than 20 years of experience and has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
