Biography

Mr. Michael Murray is a Co-Founder & serves as Managing Partner at Peloton Capital Management. Mr. Murray serves as a Board Member at Edgewood Health Network. He served as a Board Member at 123Dentist. Mr. Murray previously served as Managing Director, Financial Services at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. He joined OTPP in 2005 as part of TPC. In late 2007, he and Faraone co-founded a newly established team tasked with sourcing and executing investments in the North American financial services sector. He went on to spend the remainder of his tenure at OTPP focusing exclusively on financial services opportunities. In 2013, he took over leadership of the Financial Services team and joined TPC's investment committee. Mr. Murray was named Managing Director in early 2016. During his time at OTPP, he developed extensive experience in deal sourcing, opportunity analysis, transaction execution, and value creation as the lead or co-lead on five transactions totaling more than $1 billion in invested equity. Mr. Murray's broad portfolio company experience includes roles on the boards of Canada Guaranty Mortgage Insurance Company, NXT Capital, BroadStreet Partners, First American Payment Systems, APCO Holdings, Catalina Holdings, and GCAN Insurance Company, as well as an observer role at SeaCube Container Leasing. He started his career at Bain & Company in the firm's Toronto office and was exposed to profit improvement, strategy development, and M&A projects across a wide variety of industries including financial services, industrials, retail, telecommunications, and business services. He left Bain in early 1999 to join Delano Technology Corporation - a Toronto-based software startup that was in the early stages of commercialization. During his tenure, Delano grew to become a global provider of enterprise-class Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions. As one of the first employees at Delano, he took on numerous roles in guiding the company through the early stages of its development and capital raising through to a successful initial public offering and ultimately the sale of the firm to a strategic buyer. He holds a B.Comm (1st Class Honours) from Queen's University and an MBA (High Distinction) from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He also completed the Directors Education Program at the Institute of Corporate Directors at The Rotman School of Management.
