Biography

Dr. Mark Bonnar served as a Board Member at Sunverge Energy. He also serves as an Investment Committee Member at Kilara Capital. He also serves as the Managing Director of investments at Southern Cross Venture Partners. Previously, he served as a Board Member at Board Member GreenSync. He served as a Board Member of Wattwatchers. He focuses on the energy and resources sectors at Southern Cross Venture Partners as part of a pan-Pacific partnership with Softbank China Venture Capital (SBCVC). Together Southern Cross and SBCVC have offices in Palo Alto, Sydney, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, and across mainland China, with combined funds under management approaching US$ 2 billion. Mark's early career in industrial research focused on the development of advanced materials for power generation. From there he joined Applied Materials Inc. in Silicon Valley and worked with the World's largest semiconductor device manufacturers of the time including Intel, Motorola, NEC & Fujitsu. Returning to the UK, Mark worked with several private equity-backed ventures and as Chief Executive of Applied Thermal Control Ltd led the company through a turn-around and into a period of sustained growth. Mark holds a BSc in applied physics and a Ph.D. in materials science from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Mark was a previous recipient of the CSIRO Medal for Business Excellence. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Centre for Energy Technologies at the University of Adelaide and recently partnered with GE in their first ANZ Ecomagination challenge. In 2013 Mark joined the expert panel for the prestigious Global Cleantech 100.
