Biography

Dr. Shay David is a Co-Founder and Board Member at Kaltura. He serves as Co-Founder, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer at Retrain.ai. He also served as a Venture Partner at Emerge (VC). He is also a Co-Founder and serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at rRetrain.ai. He is a scholar and serial entrepreneur who specializes in collaborative and open-source information and communication systems. The company is the world leader in the field, headquartered in NYC, with over 150,000 publishers, universities, and enterprises worldwide that have integrated Kaltura's open-source video platform. At Kaltura, he oversees the company's business unit focused on the media and telecom industries. He is also, a founding member of the Open Video Alliance, an organization dedicated to open standards for video. Before Kaltura, he was a co-founder of several software startups and consulted on open systems for Fortune 500 companies like Toyota. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Philosophy, Magna Cum Laude, from Tel-Aviv University, and an M.A. from New York University where his interdisciplinary research thesis focused on the political economy of free and open-source software and file-sharing networks. He wrote his PhD dissertation on "Participatory information networks" at Cornell University and he is also a fellow at The Information Society Project at the Yale Law School where he has done his post-doc work on issues of access to knowledge. He has published extensively in leading academic and industry journals and presented his work worldwide.
