Biography

Mr. Wilson Acton serves as Managing Partner at Tall Grass Ventures. He serves as Venture Partner at Weave VC. He serves as a Board Member and Strategic Advisor at HomeTeam Network. He serves as a Board Member at ZILA BioWorks. He co-founded and served as Chief Growth Officer and Board Member at Verge. He is an Angel Investor. He serves as a Board Member at StoreToDoor. He also served as Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs, General Counsel, and Board Member at Whipcord. He also serves as an Advisor at Weaver VC. He served as an Associate at McCarthy Tétrault. As a transactional lawyer, he assisted a wide range of businesses across a host of matters from seed capital raises to strategic acquisitions, including some of the largest and most complex M&A and corporate finance transactions in Canadian history. His experience includes advising a variety of clients, including domestic and international oil and gas exploration and production companies, energy-focused income trusts, oilfield supply companies, agricultural product supply companies, underwriters, and investment dealers for a wide range of transactions, including private and public offerings, asset, and share transactions, plans of arrangement, stock exchange listings, recapitalizations, corporate creation and organization, and dissenting shareholder disputes. He is a member and chairperson of the board of directors of KidSport Calgary, an organization dedicated to helping remove the financial obstacles that prevent some youth from participating in organized sports. He received his BSc (with Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan in Agricultural Economics in 2005 and his LLB from the University of Calgary in 2008.
