He is the Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery and Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University. He has spent more than 45 years doing pioneering work in the fields of tissue regeneration, infectious diseases, erythrocyte membranes, and auto-immune diseases. He has published more than 400 articles and has 75 patents/patents pending. He gained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego, and his B.S in Chemistry from Brigham Young University.
