Biography

Mr. Carlos Filgueiras is the Co-Founder and serves as Partner at Bewater Ventures. He serves as a Board Member at Clinica SIM. He also served as an Operating Partner at Alexia Ventures. He is a Recognized leader and strategist with a consistent track record in organic growth and M&A integrations. He Co-founded one of the first colleges that made up Adtalem Brasil in 2000. As CEO managed to take the company from 2,500 to 115,000 students across 16 institutions. He led Adtalem's international operations and business development in countries such as Mexico, Peru, and India. He managed the company from inception to becoming one of the largest higher education groups in Brazil in 2019 (12 M&As and integrations completed). Grew team from 200 to 6,000 employees. He acquired Ibmec in 2015, becoming the only professional consolidator in Brazil to run universities in the premium segment. He started his career as an entrepreneur in logistics, acting as general manager of the company for 6 years. The company was sold to ebX Expresso Brasil in 2000. He participated as an investor and board member in several companies, such as +A Educação, SiM Co, Eleva Educação, Edify, IBBX, and Hotel Emiliano. He was elected by Forbes Magazine as one of the best CEOs of Brazil in 2017. He completed a Stanford MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Universidade de São Paulo & also holds an Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas.
