Biography

Mr. Elliot Borkson serves as Vice President & Trustee at Leo Goodwin Foundation. He manages the day-to-day activities of the Foundation and is responsible for developing and enforcing policies and objectives to ensure the Foundation maintains its values and meets established goals. In his position, Elliot oversees and maintains the financial budgets for the Foundation, ensuring its financial stability. He is directly involved with the organizations and their leaders and works tirelessly to build and maintain these important relationships. Elliot also works to create public awareness initiatives and makes certain the organization is visible to the community and those interested in the Foundation. Elliot is a prominent and well-respected tax and estate-planning attorney in Fort Lauderdale. He is currently President and Sole Shareholder of Elliot P. Borkson, P.A. and focuses in the areas of estate planning and administration; business, corporate, and partnership planning; and succession planning for businesses. For more than three decades, he has guided many families, including some of the most notable in South Florida, in structuring diverse estate plans and providing for future generations. Prior to establishing his private practice, Elliot was a shareholder and tax attorney with Atlas, Pearlman, Trop & Borkson, P.A., Borkson, Simon, Moskowitz & Mandell, P.A., and Goldberg, Young, Goldberg & Borkson, P.A. He has published many articles in the Florida Bar Journal, Case and Comment, The Monthly Tax Digest and the Florida Law Review. Elliot is also a CPA and has been involved in a number of successful business ventures. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida with an accounting degree and received a J.D. with honors from the University of Florida College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review. Elliot is a founding member of Broward Partnership for the Homeless (BPHI), has served on the boards of Kids In Distress, Anti-Defamation League, Jewish National Fund, American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Children's Services Council, Broward County Charter Review Commission, and many others.
