Biography

Mr. Peter Breese served as Board Member at Azura Power West Africa. He has had a long involvement in most of the disciplines of investment banking and capital markets in emerging markets such as Latin America and Africa. After 20 years with large international banks mainly raising debt and equity in the capital markets, in 1973 Peter focused again on Latin America joining a small Latin America-focused boutique to run markets and corporate finance. Following its sale, in 2000 he co-founded LatinCo which advises and raises capital, mainly for Brazilian companies investment managers. Joining Afrivest in 2002 as Non-Executive Director and then COO and an Executive Director of the Nigerian affiliate (until December 2011), Peter has been able to straddle Africa and Latin America for the last ten years. Alongside business development, his principal focus has been on developing and strengthening corporate governance practices, on the basis of the belief that there is a competitive advantage for emerging market firms which adhere to world class standards of behaviour. Peter continues to pursue his governance interest through his work on the development of a certification programme for the directors of all Nigerian companies. Peter is an advisor to Africa Risk Consulting which advises on risk management for international investors in Africa and has a BA in political science from George Washington University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
