Biography

Mr. Robert Beacham served as a Managing Director at Prospect Street Ventures. He has been involved in financial services and private equity for 16 years. After receiving a BA (Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude) from Duke University in 1976, he received a JD degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1981, where he was a member of the Editorial Board of the Virginia Law Review. He also received an MBA from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia that same year. Mr. Beacham initially worked as a corporate attorney at Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson in Charlotte, North Carolina from 1981 to 1986. From 1986 to 1989, he was a Principal at a small broadcast company, where he executed purchases and turnarounds of radio stations throughout the United States. Following two years as a financial advisor to high net worth individuals at Sanford C. Bernstein & Company, Mr. Beacham built the Media Division of McKinley Capital Partners, raising over $750 million in private equity for media clients. McKinley Capital, under Mr. Beacham's leadership, became the preeminent investment bank for small to middle-market broadcast transaction financing. In 1998, he helped to launch Crary, Onthank and O'Neil, a media investment banking boutique, where he focused on raising private equity capital for small business clients. In 2000, Mr. Beacham joined Bentley Associates, again specializing on the private finance of small to medium-sized businesses.
