Biography

Ms. Mitchell Wallerstein served as President & Trustee at Baruch College. He also serves as an Executive at Wallerstein Foundation for Geriatric Life Improvement. He came to Baruch in 2010 after serving for seven years as the Dean of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, the nation's leading graduate school of public and international affairs and social science. Other career highlights include Vice President, John D., and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counterproliferation Policy and Senior Representative for Trade Security Policy, U.S. Department of Defense; Deputy Executive Officer, National Research Council, National Academies of Sciences and Engineering; Academic positions at the National Defense University, Johns Hopkins University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, the College of the Holy Cross and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A native New Yorker, President Wallerstein holds Ph.D. and MS degrees in political science from MIT, an MPA from Syracuse University, and an AB from Dartmouth College.
