Robert Harris Ph.D General Information
Biography
Dr. Robert Harris served as Principal at Environ. He has 35 years of experience in the area of environmental health and toxic chemicals, with particular emphasis on water and air pollution and hazardous waste issues. He is recognized nationally as an expert on air, soil and groundwater contamination and on the treatment and disposal of municipal solid waste and hazardous waste. Before founding ENVIRON, Robert served as co-director of the Hazardous Waste Research Program at Princeton University and as Associate Director of the Toxic Chemicals Program for the Environmental Defense Fund. Robert was appointed by President Carter to the Council on Environmental Quality, and named the 1975 Water Supply Improvement Association Man of the Year. He is currently visiting lecturer in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Princeton University. Robert is a member of the Board of Trustees of Trenton, New Jersey-based Isles, Inc., an award-winning non-profit community development and environmental organization with a mission to foster self-reliant families in healthy, sustainable communities. He holds a PhD in environmental sciences from Harvard University, an MS in environmental health engineering from California Institute of Technology, and a BS in civil engineering from West Virginia University.
