Biography

Mr. Martin Prescott Founded & served as Managing Director at HT Skills. He has owned and operated businesses in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors for over 30yrs, and describes himself as both a serial entrepreneur and an evangelist for private enterprise. For over ten years he has also been an FE college governor and an elected Ward Councillor in his North London home borough of Enfield. Martin's Council focus is on business, employment and enterprise, and he chaired the award-winning Enfield Life Opportunities Commission in 2009/10. Drawing upon his wealth of commercial and leadership experience, and a huge network of personal and professional contacts, in recent years Martin has successfully concentrated his efforts on welfare-to-work and workplace learning programmes as a means to enhance the career and life opportunities of young adults. Martin's knowledge and problem-solving skills have informed local, regional and national government, and he is a popular contributor to a wide range of enterprise and employability fora. Always on the lookout for opportunities, Martin attributes his success to passion, experience and persistence, plus an ability to see creative solutions where others would just see obstacles. He has proved himself more than willing to take risks if he thinks the circumstances are favourable, but he takes his sense of responsibility for those who rely upon him very seriously.
