Biography

Dr. Mark Bregman is a Founder at Quidnet Ventures. He serves as Board Observer at Arcanum. He co-founded and served as Technical Advisor and Board Member at Booxby. He serves as Chairman at Marama Labs. Prior to founding Quidnet Ventures, he served as Chief Technology Officer at NetApp. He served as Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer at NeuStar where he spearheaded the company's development of next-generation technologies and solution prototypes. Prior to joining Neustar, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of infrastructure software company Symantec Corporation, where he developed the company's technology strategy and oversaw investments in advanced research and development, security, and technology services. Before that, he served as Executive Vice President of product operations and as Chief Technology Officer at Veritas Corporation, which merged with Symantec in 2005. At Veritas, he oversaw product management and engineering for all of the company's products, including market-leading storage management software and backup products. Prior to Veritas, he was CEO of AirMedia, an early mobile content marketplace, and spent 16 years in a variety of roles at IBM, including senior management positions at IBM Research and IBM Japan. He is a member of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Technological Advisory Council, which assists the FCC in identifying innovation and developing policies to support U.S. economic competitiveness. He is also chairman of the board of the Bay Area Science and Innovation Consortium (BASIC). In addition, he served on the board of directors of ShoreTel, Inc. and the board of directors of the Anita Borg Institute, a social enterprise that aims to accelerate the pace of global innovation by advancing the role of women in technology. He received his A.B. in Physics from Harvard College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Physics from Columbia University.
