Biography

Mr. Raymond Simao served as Partner at Sanlam Private Equity. Raymond began his professional career by completing his accounting articles at Ernst & Young's head office in Johannesburg. He then joined the management team of Nedcor's corporate banking division gaining exposure to the corporate, credit, treasury and correspondent banking businesses. Thereafter, Raymond joined the then Gensec Bank, to establish the risk management division for fixed income debt instruments, then a subsidiary of its' asset management business, now Sanlam Investment Management. In 2006, Raymond was appointed to the Sanlam Private Equity team in Johannesburg to form part of a growing business that had been awarded the private equity investment mandate by Sanlam Life Insurance Limited. Raymond holds a Bachelors of Accounting Science (BCompt) and an Honours degree in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa. Diplomas in Treasury Management and Trade Finance (medal prize recipient), Advanced Credit Management, as well as an Associate diploma in Banking; CAIB(SA). In addition Raymond holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Financial Management from the University of London.
