Biography

Dr. Charles Mikel served as Chief Scientific Officer & Senior Vice President at Millennium Health. As Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Charles Mikel provides scientific leadership and direction to the laboratory operations and research and development programs at Millennium Health. He is credited with originating the innovative drug testing methods, specimen handling and data processing systems and reporting techniques used in our state-of-the-art facilities. Prior to joining Millennium Health at its inception, he was a founding scientist at Chembridge Research Laboratories (CRL) in San Diego, Calif. As a group leader in the contract research medicinal chemistry group, his research advanced early-stage drug discovery for several leading pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, Astra-Zeneca, Merck, Boehringer-Ingelheim and Takeda. Dr. Mikel has published 30+ research papers and holds several U.S. and international patents related to toxicology, medicinal chemistry and combinatorial chemistry. He has also published several papers on organo-metallic macromolecular catalysts for use in hydrogen-based fuel cells. Dr. Mikel holds a doctorate in synthetic organic chemistry from York University in Toronto, Canada.
