Biography

Dr. David Tuckerman served as Venture Partner, Science, and Technology at Builders VC. Mr. Tuckerman served as Industry Advisor at Formation 8. He served as Venture Partner at CMEA Capital from June 1998 to September 2013. From 2003 to 2009 he was Chief Technical Officer of Tessera, where he was a member of the management team that executed the company's successful IPO. Tessera innovated technologies that have transformed a variety of wireless, consumer and computing products. Prior to Tessera, he was co-founder and CTO of nCHIP, a chip interconnect company that was acquired by Flextronics International Ltd. He previously held R&D positions at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. Dr. Tuckerman serves as a Venture Partner of Energy and Materials at CMEA Capital. He has been affiliated with CMEA Capital since 1997 in various roles including consultant, partner, and Venture Partner. Since 2003 he has been Chief Technical Officer of Tessera, where he was a member of the management team that executed Tessera's highly successful IPO. Previously, Dr. Tuckerman was co-founder and CTO of nCHIP from 1989 through its sale to Flextronics International in 1995. Prior to that, he managed advanced research and development projects at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and, before that, worked for International Business Machines at its T.J. Watson Research Center and Cambridge Scientific Center. He serves as a Board Member at REEL Solar. Dr. Tuckerman received an S.B. in Physics, S.B. in Electrical Engineering, and S.M. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Dr. Tuckerman holds 17 U.S. patents, has authored more than 50 technical publications and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
