Biography

Mr. Gus Atiyah served as Partner at Shearman & Sterling. He focuses his practice on the representation of private equity sponsors, financial institutions, hedge funds, debt funds and public and private companies on all aspects of private finance transactions, representing both private equity sponsors, borrowers and lenders in connection with leveraged financing transactions ranging from syndicated senior facilities, second-lien facilities, leveraged buyouts, debt restructurings, recapitalizations and debt investments, and assisting equity and debt funds in raising fund-level financings. He has extensive experience advising private equity funds, debt funds, corporations and financial institutions in a wide range of industries. Gus also spends a significant amount of time on real estate financing matters. He is consistently recognized by Legal 500, which notes that Gus is "extremely responsive and very thoughtful" and "always eager to assist." Mr. Atiyah began his legal career at Shearman & Sterling in 1997. Prior to rejoining Shearman & Sterling, he was a finance partner at a major New York law firm.
