Biography

Mr. Sam Bernards served as Chief Executive Officer at Purple. He also served as Principal at Peak Ventures. He is a creative, strategic leader who specializes in scaling organizations through innovation & process control. For over 16 years in the technology, retail & financial industries, Sam has lead the creation and execution of go-to-market strategies, the development of information systems, and the launch of several start-ups. As the recipient of the 2013 Strategy Innovation Award at the Chief Strategy Officer Summit in San Francisco, Sam has advised and consulted dozens of companies such as Black & Decker and ADP, and is frequently called upon as an expert advisor by top-tier management consulting & private equity firms. Sam is also responsible for co-creating Walmart's $80B growth strategy and leading its market execution, including the full cycle creation and roll-out of Walmart Express--which is now considered the most successful format innovation in Walmart US's history since the Supercenter. As an internationally experienced, certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Sam received his MBA from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, where he was named Hawes Scholar.
