William McShane JD General Information

Biography

Mr. William McShane served as a Executive Partner at Novak Druce + Quigg. He represents clients in a variety of areas including patent counseling and opinions, due diligence, licensing and transactions, interferences, litigation, prosecution and reissue and reexaminations in chemical and pharmaceutical matters, his primary practice is in patent litigation, focusing on ANDA litigation for the pharmaceutical industry. Bill has over 15 years of patent litigation experience at both the district court and appellate levels and has been heavily involved in many ANDA litigations. Bill was a primary member of the team for Pfizer's successful defense of Lipitor® against an ANDA challenge by Ranbaxy, and one of the lead attorneys representing Pfizer in several follow-on ANDA challenges to Lipitor® and to Pfizer's combination drug product Caduet®. Bill has also been heavily involved with in-house counsel at Pfizer in coordinating and managing the worldwide patent challenges and patent litigation on the patent portfolio protecting Lipitor®. Bill was also one of the lead attorneys representing Pfizer against follow-on generic challenges to its blockbuster antibiotic Zithromax® and was recently a primary member of the team that successfully defended AstraZeneca's Crestor® against seven ANDA challenges in 2010. He was also involved in a large number of ANDA litigations over Adalat® CC (Bayer AG) and Procardia XL® (Pfizer Inc) representing Bayer AG in those litigations. Bill has participated in all phases of the firm's litigation practice including pretrial, trial and appellate stages of litigation, both domestically and internationally. He has also led many due diligence investigations for major pharmaceutical companies. In 2010, Bill was honored to be recognized as one of the world's leading life sciences patent litigators by IAM (Intellectual Asset Management) magazine.
