Biography

Ms. Shazia Khawaja serves as Partner at Polpis Capital. She also served as Managing Director at StormHarbour. She has over 16 years of financial services and legal experience, most recently as Director and Asia Office Head of DiMaio Ahmad Capital, a multi-strategy asset management firm specializing in credit products. At DA Capital, she was responsible for sourcing, structuring, and evaluating investment opportunities across the capital structure in the Asia-Pacific region covering both private, illiquid financings as well as public securities. Investments included senior secured, second lien, mezzanine and subordinated debt facilities and private equity transactions in support of refinancings, growth, acquisition and special situations across a broad range of industries. Prior to joining DA Capital, she was part of the senior management team at Sithe Energies, a New York-based energy company with over 4000MW under generation worldwide, where she structured and advised on corporate restructurings, asset acquisitions and divestitures, capital raising transactions and project and asset financing. She started her career at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York where she represented financial institutions in corporate financing transactions covering acquisition finance, DIP financings, debt restructurings, and in limited recourse, multiple source financings of power and other infrastructure assets including multilateral agency and export credit agency financings, commercial bank financings and capital markets transactions. She has a B.A. in Politics from Mount Holyoke College and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law. She is a member of the bar of the State of New York.
