Biography

Mr. Skardon Baker serves as Partner, European Principal Finance (EPF), Real Assets at Apollo Global Management. He is the Lead Partner of the European Principal Funds, overseeing all EPF investment activities, operations, and personnel, and a member of the European Management Committee. Before joining Apollo in 2012, Mr. Baker was a Managing Director with The Carlyle Group's distressed debt investment vehicle and, before Carlyle, a Managing Director at Oaktree Capital Management where he specialized in distressed debt, special situations, and non-performing loan investments. Mr. Baker started his financial services career at JPMorgan Chase and its predecessor organizations where he was a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group as well as a Special Aide to JPMorgan Chase's Co-Heads of Global Investment Banking, focusing on a variety of strategic initiatives. Before his graduate studies, he served as the Chief Speechwriter and Policy Assistant to Governor George W. Bush, subsequently the 43rd President of the United States. Previously, Mr. Baker served on active duty as an Officer in the United States Army. Mr. Baker received his MBA from Harvard Business School, JD from The University of Texas School of Law where he was a member of The Texas Law Review, and a BA degree in government magna cum laude from Harvard University.
