Biography

Dr. Tony Elavia serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Mackenzie Investments at IGM Financial. He is responsible for overseeing the company's investment management teams and chairing the Global Investment Committee. Tony has over 30 years of industry experience. He possesses a broad and deep investment management background working with both retail and institutional clients in the U.S. and Canada. His key area of expertise is to help large investment teams identify their investment edge and help them harvest it using effective portfolio construction and risk management techniques. During his career, Tony has managed equity and asset-allocation strategies with a strong focus on quantitative modeling. Prior to Mackenzie, Tony held progressively senior positions, including CIO and CEO at a U.S.-based insurance company subsidiary, and leadership roles at three asset management firms in the U.S. Tony earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Houston and an MA in Economics from the University of Baroda in India.
