Biography

Mr. Brian Gubbels Co-Founded First Star Recycling. He served as President & Chief Executive Officer at Datashield. He also served as Senior Advisor at Corporate Ventures. He is an experienced entrepreneur who is in charge of client engagement at Corporate Ventures. He has a wealth of experience in the manufacturing and recycling industries, having founded two different companies. In 1998, he co-founded Omaha-based Firstar Fiber Corporation, becoming its first employee and opening the company's first recycling operation in Fremont, Nebraska. In 2005, Brian moved Firstar Fiber to its current Omaha location. He led the sales and operations of the recycling and converting divisions as President until 2009, building Firstar Fiber into a multi-million dollar company. He continues to serve on the company's board of directors. More recently, Mr. Gubbels co-founded EDT Recycling, a company focused on electronics recycling and document destruction. He currently serves as President/Owner of EDT. Mr. Gubbels has been extensively involved in the Omaha community. In 2004, he was honored as 'Omaha's Entrepreneur of the Year.' Gubbels is also actively involved in several community organizations. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and he sat on Congressman Lee Terry's Energy Advisory Committee. Past community involvement includes: Strategic Air and Space Museum Board Member, Nebraska State Recycling Association Board Member, Leadership Omaha-Class 25 Graduate, Leadership Omaha Curriculum Committee, Social Settlement Board Member, Earth Day Omaha Board Chairman, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Committees. Mr. Gubbels received his B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
