Biography

Mr. Mohammed Al-Mannai served as Chief Executive Officer at Qatar National Broadband Network. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar National Broadband Network (Qnbn). Qnbn will be a prime driver for the new economy, encouraging innovation to empower people, businesses and society to help achieve a knowledge-based sustainable economy in line with the Qatar 2030 Vision. Al Mannai brings over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, in network planning, deployment and optimization. As Senior Director for the Network Rollout, he was responsible for the design and implementation of both fixed and wireless networks. He was then appointed Board member of Maldives operator before joining Qnbn in 2011. In addition, since 2010, Al Mannai has been Board Member in Al Jazeera Network. The company's achievements to date include the signing of significant agreements with telecom operators, and major real estate developers. Qnbn has been awarded a 25 year license by the Telecom Regulatory Authority, allowing the company to provide wholesale services to licensed telecom operators, in addition to offering services on a retail level to enterprises that own or operate private networks. Network rollout is progressing as planned: in Barwa City and Barwa Commercial Avenue, Central Offices in the West Bay have been completed; backbone fiber along North Road, and South Road. Work is underway in towers and compounds in the West Bay, and Msheireb Downtown Doha. Al Mannai holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Electronics from the American University in Cairo, and has numerous professional management and leadership diplomas from institutions including IMD, INSEAD and the Carnegie Bosch Institute.
