Abdullah Sharafi General Information

Biography

Mr. Abdullah Sharafi served as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Dubai International Capital. He is the President and Managing Director at Gerab National Enterprises since 2004. Presently he is the Chairman of the Board at TECOM Investments Acacia Investments (BSC), and Smart City. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at Dubai Group 2024 Limited, Dubai International Capital LLC, Takaful Re, and Zodiac Garments Factory (Dubai Branch). He served as Board member at Dubai Aerospace Enterise. In the recent past, Abdullah served as a member of the Board of Directors at Emirates Financial Services, Emirates NBD Asset Management, Emirates NBD Capita, Dubai Group Sigorta Anonim Sirketi, and Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad. Abdullah earned his Master's degree in economics from Denver University in 1983. He brings with him extensive entrepreneurial experience from his various family businesses; his tenure at the Emirates Industrial Bank for more than 21 years in different capacities as Dealer/Manager Treasury, Manager Information Center, Manager Economic Research Section, and Manager Projects/Operations Division; his two year seconded tenure at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research as Head of Oil and Investment Division; and his advisory roles at the UAE Ministry of Economy, the UAE Ministry of Labor, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, and the UAE Central Bank. Abdullah has written extensively on the UAE's economy and industry, and his writings have been published in the Journal of the Emirates Industrial Bank and the local newspapers.
