Neil Fowler General Information

Biography

Mr. Neil Fowler serves as Legal & Compliance Director & Investment Committee Member at EG Capital. He served as Head, Legal at Russia Partners. Mr. Fowler also serves as General Counsel at Russia Partners. Mr. Fowler has over 15 years of legal experience in Russia and the CIS and has worked in the financial services industry since 2000. Prior to joining Russia Partners, he was General Counsel for Visor Capital, one of the largest private equity and venture capital firms in Kazakhstan that invests in the financial services, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, and metals and mining sectors in Central and Southeast Asia. From 2007 to 2009, he was an Executive Director and the Head of Legal and Compliance at Renaissance Investment Management, the asset and wealth management entity of the Renaissance Group. From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Fowler served as General Counsel for Brunswick UBS Warburg, a Moscow-based investment bank, and from 2005 to 2007 he was General Counsel for Brunswick Rail Leasing Limited, a leasing company that provides operating and financial leases of freight railcars to companies within Russia and the CIS. From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Fowler practiced law at Clifford Chance CIS Limited in Moscow and at Russell McVeagh in New Zealand. He started his career in the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade where he served as a diplomat to the New Zealand Embassy in Moscow from 1993 to 1996. Mr. Fowler holds a B.A. in Russian and French with additional coursework in Mathematics and Economics, an M.A. with honors in Russian, and an LLB from The University of Auckland. He speaks fluent Russian.
