Biography

Ms. Pamela Backman served as Chief Financial Officer at Heritage Health. Pamela Backman has worked in healthcare finance for over 18 years. Pamela graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting and minor studies in Mathematics from Walla Walla University in 1993. She then completed an accounting internship for St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington and was ultimately hired to work on revenue and productivity enhancement projects. Pamela was offered a senior financial analyst position with Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington, where she provided financial statements and supporting information to the board of directors. Pamela coordinated annual audits, oversaw accounts payable, and payroll functions, and participated in process improvement efforts along with clinical managers. Pamela worked with numerous Providence Health and Services entities on cost containment projects, contract negotiations, and budgeting. She also lead the long range strategic financial planning process. Pamela progressed into management within Providence Services and became Manager of Business Planning and Decision Support Services providing financial analysis and recommendations for 12 entities including Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, Providence Holy Family Hospital, three rural critical access hospitals, two skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and home health facilities and various outpatient joint ventures.
