Biography

Mr. Jason Damata is a Co-Founder and serves as Chief Executive Officer at Fabric Media. He has spent more than 15 years helping media companies innovate; from TV networks, magazines and content companies to advertising agencies and media investment houses, to technology platforms that helped reshape the media and TV industries. Damata has worked as a TV host, reporter, producer and marketer, and has owned and operated a telecommunications policy research firm, a magazine and an award-winning restaurant. He started Fabric Media as a professional collective focused on media relations, marketing and business development for companies at the intersection of technology and entertainment. As the founder, he works closely with executives at TV networks, social networks and media companies to bring new experiences, insights and content strategies to market. Jason has helped numerous companies launch, re-define a market, and be acquired. He helped Trendrr become the go-to resource for social TV data before being acquired by Twitter, served as the spokesperson for bebo.com when it was the world's third largest social network, and was on the founding team of Fora.TV, the first online video portal to bring together America's best think tanks. Jason spent five years at C-SPAN, and under the tutelage of its founder Brian Lamb, traveled the country executing marketing events and lobbying for and with the cable industry. His business development work includes brokering long term media partnerships for clients with CNN, National Geographic, The Associated Press, Advertising Age, Village Voice Media, Forbes, NY Post, Mashable, Multichannel News, and Discovery; he has helped many organizations find a business to business relationship that improved their bottom lines. He has penned columns for numerous publications and has been quoted on cultural, technology and media trends in the NY Times, WSJ, USA Today, Forbes, ABC News, CNN and Advertising Age, to name just a few. Jason has led global media initiatives for the Love Hope Strength Foundation, the world's leading music-based cancer charity and explore.org, a philanthropic media organization and multi-media arm of The Annenberg Foundation. A student and close friend of Clay Tom Whitehead, former head of the Office of Telecommunications Policy, Jason helped the telecom and satellite pioneer develop a program with George Mason and the National Archives. He graduated with a BA from the University of Denver with a dual major in journalism and philosophy and minors in international relations and politics.
