Biography
Mr. Walid Bakr served as Managing Director at The Abraaj Group. Mr. Walid Bakr served as Principal & Partner at Riyada Enterprise Development. Before joining Abraaj, Mr. Bakr served as a Director at Riyada Ventures and advised on numerous investment funds and participated in structuring many early- stage investment transactions in the Middle East and North Africa. Before that, Mr. Bakr served as the Chief Executive Officer at IDEAVELOPERS. He started his career as an information-technology professional and entrepreneur before becoming an investment professional for the last nine years. During his career, he has held management positions in the Egyptian ministry of CIT, the Arab Stock Exchange, and Sunbelt Software in Paris, France, amongst others. He serves as Director at Abraaj Capital. Mr. Bakr is a member of The Abraaj Group's investment team in the Middle East and North Africa. He has more than nine years of investment management experience. Mr. Bakr holds a B.Sc. in Communications Engineering, with the highest honours, from Alexandria University.
