Biography

Mr. Xavier Ponce de León is a Co-Founder and serves as Principal and Managing Partner at Ideas & Capital. He serves as Board Member at Sport Distribution Network. As investor, Xavier is specialized in early-stage and growth companies. He is the co-founder and has been a Principal at Ideas & Capital since 2013 where his main responsibilities are to handle the Finance and Administration processes of the company, as well as to actively participate in the deal flow generation, analysis of the investment opportunities, the development of negotiation strategies for the transactions, the monitoring of the value creation at the portfolio companies and the monitoring of exit options. Currently, he is a member of the Board in six companies. His investor skills have been forged since 1993 when he started his consulting career at McKinsey & Co., where he remained a total of seven years. Afterwards he became CEO of one of the companies at Telefonica focused on e-business. During that period, he opened operations in multiple countries including Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Spain. Xavier has been an entrepreneur since 2003 when he founded Altrox to coordinate the global value chains for large retail chains in Mexico, the US and Canada. Among Altrox's main clients are: Wal-Mart, Costco, Liverpool, Sanborns, Kohl's, The Bay, Zellers, Home Outfitters, Sears, Shop NBC, Amazon, among others. Xavier holds an MBA from Harvard University with focus on entrepreneurship. He is a B.Sc. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Tecnológico de Monterrey.
