Biography

Dr. Robert Clemens serves as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Kennametal. In this role, he is responsible for leading Kennametal's global research, development and engineering organization. Prior to joining Kennametal, Dr. Clemens was vice president, corporate technology at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee. While at Eastman, Bob held various business and technology leadership positions. Earlier in his career, he also worked in technical services at Firestone Plastics Company. He has more than 35 years of experience in technology, research and new business development. Dr. Clemens holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Ursinus College and a doctorate in organic chemistry from Princeton University. He holds over a dozen patents and has authored numerous technical publications. Dr. Clemens serves on the board of CMF International, the Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing Management Council of the American Management Association, and is a member of the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi.
