Biography

Mr. Umesh Jani served as Senior Vice President, Tech+IP Advisory Practice at Houlihan Lokey. He has extensive experience in technology, patent licensing, and patent-related investment and strategic analysis. He is based in the firm's Dallas office. Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Jani served as CTO and Executive Vice President of Technology & Licensing for Marathon Patent Group (NAS:MARA), an IP licensing and commercialization company. Before Marathon Patent Group, Mr. Jani was Vice President and joint-CTO at IP Navigation Group, LLC. He also served as a technical advisor for several IP monetization groups and was the technical expert on numerous patent litigations. Previously, Mr. Jani was a Systems Engineer with the Broadband Communications and DLP groups at Texas Instruments, Inc., where he was elected to the Technical Ladder in recognition of his technical contributions and leadership skills. Mr. Jani is a Registered Patent Agent. He holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from V.E.S.I.T (University of Bombay) and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Communications and Signal Processing from the University of Texas at Dallas.
