Biography

Ms. Laura Mackie is a Co-Founder, Co-Owner and serves as Managing Director at MainStreet Pictures. She was Director of Drama Commissioning at ITV between 2007 and 2013 when she set up Mainstreet Pictures with Ms. Sally Haynes. In Autumn 2010, She oversaw the ratings busting 'Downton Abbey' as well as 'Little House' and 'DCI Banks'. She commissioned successful returning series 'Scott & Bailey' and 'Vera' as well as the supernatural thriller 'Marchlands', the single film 'The Suspicions of Ms Whicher', 'The Jury', 'Endeavour' and BAFTA award-winning factual drama 'Appropriate Adult'. 2013 saw the successful launch and recommission of period series 'Ms. Selfridge' and the ratings busting and acclaimed emotional thriller 'Broadchurch' starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman which won BAFTA for best serial in 2013. She was awarded the RTS Judges' Award in 2012 for her contribution to television drama. Prior to ITV She was Head of Drama Series and Serials at the BBC. During this time she oversaw a diverse output including 'Auf Wiedersehen, Pet', 'Cutting It', and the period adaptations 'Daniel Deronda', 'Charles II', 'North & South' and 'To The Ends of the Earth'. She has also overseen 'The State of Play', 'Canterbury Tales, 'The Long Firm', 'Blackpool', 'The Line of Beauty, and the BAFTA award-winning serial 'Bleak House' and one-off dramas, 'Flesh and Blood' and 'Hawking'.
