Biography

Mr. Gary Brooks served as Chief Financial Officer & Partner at Vaco San Antonio. He has extensive experience in a multitude of industries, giving him a wide variety of applications of his knowledge and depth that few people I have worked with can provide." Gary uses his extensive and diverse experience to deliver cost-effective financial, operational, technology, and human resource solutions to clients in transition. His transition experience includes working as an interim CFO, preparing businesses for sale, arranging bank and another financing, supporting rapid growth, preparing for opening new markets, and surviving downturns. Areas of expertise include financial leadership, strategic vision, performance optimization, efficient cash management, optimizing banking relationships, fundraising, and identifying and managing corporate risk. Prior to joining Aventine Hill CFOs, Gary worked with a firm that provided advisory services to clients in transition. During this time, he served as interim Chief Financial Officer on several different projects in the oil and gas industry and also mentored the CFO of a rapidly growing marine salvage company. Before working as a financial advisor for businesses in transition, Gary served as a consultant for a private investment banking firm, President and Director of a privately held agricultural specialty chemical technology development company, Administrative Officer for a large television sports programming operation, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for a diversified revenue holding company, and as Vice President - Accounting for a publicly-traded energy company. In addition, he was also Senior Vice President and CFO of a private diversified oil and gas downstream company and Internal Auditor and then Controller of a public energy company. He began his career as Audit Manager for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., a predecessor to a Big Four Accounting Firm. Gary was educated at the University of North Texas and earned both Bachelor and Master of Business Administration degrees in Accounting.
