Biography

Mr. Michael Kinkelaar serves as Partner at Procopio. Mr. Kinkelaar is a partner in the firm's Business & Technology Team, where he served as Team Leader for over 10 years. He is also a member of the firm's Corporate and Securities Practice Group, where he served as group leader for the past 5 years. Mr. Kinkelaar acts as a business advisor and general counsel for businesses at various stages in their growth cycle, from start ups to mature operating companies, and he has particular expertise in early stage and emerging growth technology companies and technology-based transactions. Mr. Kinkelaar advises clients in business strategy, and in corporate, securities, intellectual property, and related tax issues in a full range of legal projects, including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, including angel and venture capital, licensing, strategic alliances, joint ventures and corporate partnering, equity compensation plans, manufacturing and distribution agreements, and start up business formation and structuring. Mr. Kinkelaar has represented companies in a variety of industries, including life science, healthcare, medical devices, information technology, software, internet, telecommunications, and defense contracting, as well as various retail, service, and manufacturing industries. Mr. Kinkelaar has also represented U.S., European, Asian and Latin American companies in various outbound and inbound international transactions, including the establishment of subsidiaries in varying jurisdictions.
