Biography

Mr. Fumiki Otokuni is the Founding Partner and serves as Principal Officer and Board Member at Bee Alternatives. He also served as a Partner at Ant Capital Partners. Back in 2009, he was a founding member of the first secondary fund focused on acquiring LP interests ("Fund 3") at Ant Capital Partners ("ACP"). He executed most of the deals in Fund 3 and built three highly successful secondary funds over his ten-year tenure at ACP. His track record is impeccable with each fund delivering superior returns to investors. Together with the other co-founders, he led the spin-out of the secondary fund business from ACP in 2021 and founded Bee Alternatives Limited ("BAL"). He is passionate about investments and is leading the BAL team in its expansion outside of Japan, to become one of the largest specialist Secondary Funds in Asia. On a day-to-day basis, he oversees the strategy of BAL and key investment activities. He travels frequently to Japan to maintain key relationships with the highly trusted network he has built over the years. He left as a Partner at ACP where he led hundreds of LP secondary investment deals. He also has an excellent track record in a wide range of investments experience including direct secondaries and leveraged buyout investments. He also spent time at Goldman Sachs Securities and Goldman Sachs Asset Management in Tokyo, where he commenced his private equity investment career. Before that, he worked for MUFG Bank and was responsible for the corporate finance sector. He holds a Bachelor in Economics from the Gakushuin University and a Master of Letters in Finance and Management from the University of St. Andrews.
