Biography

Ms. Joy Cooper was a Trustee at Hallandale Beach Police Officers' and Firefighters' Pension Fund. She is also the Mayor at the City of Hallandale Beach. Mayor Cooper is a Past President of The Florida League of Cities and has served on many of their boards. She is Past President of the Broward League of Cities and has served on their board for 11 years. Mayor Cooper is an active member of the US Conference of Mayors and serves on their Advisory Board. Currently Mayor Cooper serves as the Chair of the Broward County Fire Rescue Council and a member of the Broward County School Oversight Committee. Mayor Cooper has been focused on Economic Development for many years and has been chosen to serve as one of two elected official s on the Florida Redevelopment Associations' Board of Directors. She also serves on the Urban Land Institute Board Southeast and Caribbean Chapter. She is Chair of the Hallandale Beach Housing Authority, Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, Golden Isles Safe Neighborhood District and Three Island Safe Neighborhood District
