Biography

Mr. Mario Avila serves as Chairman at Vanderbilt Credit Union. Mr. Mario Avila served as Chief Executive Officer and Board Member at Emerge Financial Wellness. He also served as Board Member at Nashville Social Enterprise Alliance. Previously, he co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer and President at Contigo Financial. After graduating from college, Mario chose to work as a teacher in Chicago and France. His corporate career began as an Account Manager for Apex Systems, Inc., selling IT staffing solutions. His experience also includes time as a consultant with Campbell & Company, a national firm offering advice in fundraising, marketing communications and talent management for nonprofit organizations. Most recently, he was a Fellow of the Cal Turner program for Moral Leadership in the Professions and was an intern for Vanderbilt University and The Shalom Foundation, working on a hybrid housing-microfinance model to finance mortgage needs of people at the base of the pyramid in Central America. He earned a BA in Sociology from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Vanderbilt University where he served as class President.
