Biography

Dr. John Lehoczky served as Professor of Statistics Emeritus, Thomas Lord University at Carnegie Mellon University Endowment. Dr. John Lehoczky served as Board Member at Acrobatiq. He became interim executive vice president of Carnegie Mellon University on July 1, 2014. Dr. Lehoczky had served as dean of the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon from January 1, 2000 to June 30, 2014, before assuming the role of interim executive vice president. After receiving his doctoral degree from Stanford University in 1969, Lehoczky was recruited to the Department of Statistics at CMU, which he led as department head from 1984 to 1995. He has had a substantial impact on the university through many activities, including his leadership of the Dietrich College's Humanities Initiative, which comprises the Humanities Scholars Program, the Center for the Arts in Society and the Humanities Center. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS), the American Statistical Association (ASA), the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and he is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
