Biography

Dr. Stefan Pastine is the Founder and serves as Chief Executive Officer at Thintronics. He Co-founded Connora and served as its Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Pastine has over 14 years of experience in chemical research, which has spanned the areas of Organic Synthesis, Polymer Chemistry, Organic Materials Science, Biomimicry and Nanotechnology. This diverse research background, coupled with an eye for creative, outside-of-the-box solutions to scientific problems, inspired him to develop new technologies that address the issues of sustainability in the plastics industry. He spearheaded the creation of Recyclamine™ technology, leading to the development of the world's first recyclable epoxy plastic. He founded Connora Technologies to promote sustainable design in the plastic composite industry. Dr. Pastine holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from College of Charleston, a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from Columbia University, and studied Polymer Science and Organic Materials Science at the University of California, Berkeley as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow. He is a recipient of the 2010 R&D 100 award. He also Co-founder of Connora Technologies, which invented and commercialized technology that made an important industrial plastic recyclable (a.k.a. Recyclable Thermosets). The technology is currently used by Siemens-Gamesa to make recyclable windmill blades. Recyclable thermosets will divert 26 billion pounds of waste a year from landfills. Stefan led Connora from the founding concept through multiple financing rounds, R&D, scale-up, commercialization and finally through acquisition. Exited 2019.
