Biography

Ms. Padmaja Ruparel is a Co-Founder and serves as Board Member, Managing Partner, Fund 1 & Alpha Fund, BioAngels Governance Board Member & Governance Committee Member at Indian Angel Network. Ms. Ruparel is the Founding Partner of IAN Fund. She serves as Board Member of MCT Cards & Technology. She serves as a Board Member at Zypp. She serves as a Board Member at Get My Parking, Phool, and Dhruva Space. She serves as an Advisor at Launch Africa Ventures. She serves as a Board Member at WebEngage and Clootrack. She served as an Advisor at Gray Matters Capital. From building her own real estate business in her 20s to being a housewife to handling corporate communications and corporate social responsibility before becoming an angel investor, She has donned many roles. As the president and co-founder of the Indian Angel Network (IAN), India's first & Asia's largest angel investor network with over 500 investors across 10 countries and a portfolio of over 135 companies across 17 sectors., She is now looking to fund at least 500 startups that can create over 30,000 jobs in the next ten years through IAN. With her experience spanning over 15 years in the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem, She is credited with operationalizing the Delhi chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and has served as the Executive Director of the Indian Venture Capital Association, India's oldest and largest association of VC and PE firms. She has also helped set up Lankan Angel Network and has contributed actively to the Planning Commission's report: "Creating a Vibrant Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in India". She is actively engaged with the various committees of the Ministry of Finance, SEBI, & was involved in the "India Inclusive Innovation Fund", a US$1 bn. dollar fund which focuses on the Base of the Economic Pyramid to bring public, private & development fund investors, driven by professional management, promising financial & impact returns. She completed BA in English from University of Calcutta and done an MBA.
