Biography

Dr. Pierre Samec serves as Board Member at MeteoGroup. He served as Operating Partner at General Atlantic. He served as Senior Vice President of EMEA Technology at General Atlantic. He is a Member of General Atlantic's Resources Group based in our London office, providing technology expertise to GA's portfolio companies and assisting with new investments in the EMEA region. He has unique senior experience in the role of software development either in top 50 ISV worldwide or Fortune 500 Companies, leveraging software and more generally technology to enable fast growth, at scale. From 2012 to 2013, he was the Chief Technology Officer at TriZetto Corporation leading the upgrade of the TriZetto healthcare payer suite to support the Accountable Care Act. Prior to TriZetto, he was Chief Technology Officer at Expedia Inc. starting in 2006 where he led the rebuilding of Expedia's core software and infrastructure. He began his career in Silicon Valley as an entrepreneur by founding PetroVision Inc., a petroleum engineering consultancy. He participated actively in the emergence of Internet technologies as Senior Vice President of Retail Technologies at Charles Schwab and Company and as the Chief Information Officer of Chemdex / Ventro, from 1998 to 2000. He also headed up technology for Business Objects and Cartesis in Europe from 2002 to 2006 delivering major enterprise releases prior to the rollup of those companies into SAP. He has been involved with companies Argus Media, ControlExpert and Hyperion. He received a General Engineering Degree from the Ecole des Mines de Paris, France and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geophysics from Stanford University.
