Biography

Mr. Alejandro Schwedhelm served as Senior Advisor at NALA Investments. He served as Board Member at Visor. He has more than 30 years of experience in finance and private equity centered in Mexico, Central and South America. Alejandro previously served as managing director of Darby Overseas Investments, the emerging markets private equity arm of Franklin Templeton. During his 12-year tenure at Darby Overseas, Alejandro was responsible for overseeing the company's significant financial sector investments and managed two funds focused on investments and divestitures of companies with operations across 12 Latin American countries. Prior to joining Darby, he served as the group president and managing director for Latin America at GMAC-RFC and founded the company's successful mortgage banking operation in Mexico and an asset management and resolution business in Brazil. Earlier in his career, Alejandro founded Auritec S.A., a leading distressed asset-resolution company, and served as the managing partner of AuritecAsesores, which provided M&A and financial advisory services. He also served as the COO of BancaSerfin in Mexico, and managing director of Serfin's investment banking arm, which was a leader in the bank privatization process of 18 banks in Mexico in the early 1990s. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior industrial specialist at the World Bank and as a senior investment officer for the International Finance Corporation (IFC). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a Master of Science in Management degree from the Sloan School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
