Biography

Mr. Jack Macdowell serves as Managing Member & Chief Investment Officer at The Palisades Group. He has over 15 years of experience in investment management and trading mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities. Prior to forming Palisades, from July 2009 to August 2012, he served as the chief investment officer at Carrington Capital Management where he oversaw the teams responsible for investment strategies, quantitative analysis, mortgage credit analytics, valuation, trading and risk management of residential mortgages. Prior to Carrington Capital Management, he was responsible for mortgage-backed securities ("MBS") and asset-backed securities ("ABS") analysis and trading at Old Hill Partners from March 2008 through July 2009. Prior to Old Hill Partners, he was Principal, and Head of Capital Markets, Structuring and Analytics at Carrington Capital Management where he was responsible for the firm's mortgage credit analytics, securitization activities related to more than $23 billion in acquired residential mortgage loans and related portfolio hedges. From September 2001 through January 2005, he served as a Vice President in the Asset Securitization Group at RBC Capital Markets. He worked in the Asset Securitization Group at Credit Suisse First Boston from July 2000 through September 2001. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. He is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society of Austin, CFA Society New York and CFA Society Los Angeles. He serves as an Independent Trustee to Vertical Capital Income Fund, and NYSE-listed closed-end fund.
