Biography

Mr. Marcos Alvarado serves as Partner & Head of U.S. Real Estate at Sixth Street Partners. He also serves as President & Chief Investment Officer at Istar Financial. He served as President, Chief Investment Officer, & Board Member at Safehold. He served as a Board Member at Opus Bank. He served as a Senior Vice President, Acquisitions at Starwood Capital Group. He looked after corporate/platform transactions and the origination, underwriting, structuring, and execution of investments in all property types, with a geographic focus on New York City. Before joining Starwood Capital in 2008, he was a Vice President in Lehman Brothers' Global Real Estate Group, and before that, worked in Morgan Stanley's commercial mortgage-backed securities group. he serves on the Board of Directors of Riviera Holdings Corp., which owns and operates casinos in Las Vegas; NV, a California-based commercial bank; and Northwest Management, the holding company for the assets of Corus Bancshares. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of ST Residential. Mr. Alvarado holds a B.A. degree from Dartmouth College.
