Biography

Dr. Mehran Andalib served as Vice President, Process Solutions & Programs at Environmental Operating Solutions. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Western University in Ontario and has 12 years of experience in wastewater process engineering. His primary area of expertise is wastewater treatment, biological nutrient removal (BNR) processes and optimization of municipal and industrial treatment plants. He is also expert in mathematical modeling of biological processes and dynamic simulations. He is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) of Ontario and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES). Mehran has led wastewater characterization studies, process analyses, dynamic simulations and optimizations for many municipal and industrial BNR treatment plants to help them meet stringent nitrogen and phosphorus discharge limits. He has written numerous journal articles and a book chapter on the subject of BNR, fluidization and mathematical modeling of water and wastewater treatment. He is an active scholar within the wastewater community in North America, presenting papers at major conferences such as WEFTEC and IWA. Currently, he is the Vice President of the WEF Special Activities Committee and an active member of both the WEF Modeling Expert Group of the Americas (MEGA) Committee and the WEF Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design Committee (MWTDC).
