Biography

Mr. George Chavel served as an Executive at Wind Point Partners. He serves as an Operating Partner at Shore Capital Partners. He served as a Board Member at Handgards and PureStar Group. Mr. Chavel served as Chief Executive Officer & President at Sodexo. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Sodexo North America. Sodexo, with FY'13 revenues of $8.9 billion, is the leading provider of Quality of Life Services. Under Mr. Chavel's leadership, 133,000 employees across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico provide a vast array of services that help Sodexo's 4,000 clients improve their organizations by focusing on positively impacting the lives of their people and the people they serve. Mr. Chavel also serves on the global Sodexo Executive Committee as a Group Chief Operating Officer and is a member of the worldwide Operating Committee that represents 80 countries. Since joining Sodexo in 1991, he has held a wide range of leadership positions including Vice President for the Hospitals/Acute Care Division and Chief Operating Officer and Health Care Market President for Sodexo North America. Mr. Chavel is a strong advocate for employee development and building diverse and inclusive workplaces. Since becoming CEO in 2007, Sodexo has achieved numerous accolades for its commitment to diversity and inclusion including the Catalyst Award; multiple 100% rankings on the Human Rights Campaign Equality Index; and #1 on DiversityInc's Top 50 Companies for Diversity twice. Chavel has also led the organization in the implementation of the Better Tomorrow Plan, Sodexo's global promise for sustainability focused on positively impacting the environment and local communities we serve. Mr. Chavel chairs the Sodexo Diversity Leadership Council and serves on the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Corporate Advisory Board, the Albion College Board of Trustees, and the boards of the Hispanic College Fund, the Maryland Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, and the Sodexo Foundation. Sodexo Foundation, an independent charitable organization founded in 1999, has made more than $17 million in grants to end childhood hunger in America. Sodexo funds all administrative costs for the Foundation. Mr. Chavel is a former board member of the National Committee for Quality Health Care (NCQHC) and the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL). Prior to joining Sodexo, he spent seven years in the restaurant franchising industry. He began his professional career with Arthur Andersen. A native of Michigan, Mr. Chavel graduated from Albion College, in Albion, Michigan, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Management.
