Biography

Mr. Raúl Salazar is the Founding Partner at Grupo Macro. He is An expert in economic, monetary, and financial matters, with more than 30 years of experience. He currently serves on the board of directors of Scotiabank Perú, Química del Pacífico, British American Tobacco, Pesquera Diamante, and Profuturo AFP. His past experience includes serving as Executive President of the Fondo Andino de Reservas (Andean Reserves Fund) and as the Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), representing Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. He has been President of Banco Wiese Sudameris and has been a member of the board of directors at Sindicato Pesquero, Peruplast, Royal & Sun Alliance Vida, Royal & Sun Alliance-Seguros Fénix, Banco de Lima-Sudameris, Banco de Lima, Unión Metalúrgica, Agroindustrial Lima SAC, Banco Agrario del Perú and Empresa de Saneamiento de Lima. He has served in the Office of Economic Affairs, the Economic Advisory Office, the Department of Monetary Studies, and the Money and Banking Section, at the Banco Central de Reserva del Perú (Central Reserve Bank of Peru). He has a Law degree from Universidad Nacional San Luis Gonzaga de Ica and an M.Sc. in Economics from Iowa State University. He is a graduate of the Monetary Analysis and Policy Program at the Center for Latin American Center for Monetary Studies in Mexico City.
